THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University faces Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma Baptist in a matchup of top-10 ranked teams in the NAIA.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children. OCU students and faculty are admitted free into all Stars events with their ID.
ABOUT THE STARS: OCU improved to 16-1, 8-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, coming from behind to defeat John Brown (Ark.) 76-69 on Saturday in Siloam Springs, Ark. Laura Duncan led the Stars' scoring with 23 points as OCU recorded five double-digit scorers and erased a 14-point deficit.
Holly Hardin recorded her ninth double-double of the season, posting 13 points and 13 boards. Hardin, a 6-foot junior from Chickasha, Okla., paces the Stars, averaging 13.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Hardin ranks fourth in the NAIA in field-goal percentage, shooting 61.5 percent.
Breezy Martin and Chontaye Walter both had 12 points, while Chelsea Ledbetter had 10 rounding out the Stars' double-digit scorers.
Duncan, a 5-8 junior from Edmond, Okla., averages 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.71 steals a game. Ledbetter, a 5-8 senior from Norman, Okla., records 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.77 steals a contest.
The Stars are leading NAIA Division I basketball in assists, averaging 23.0 per game, and in rebounds (47.2 per game) and rebounding margin (17.9 a game).
OCU is currently ranked third in the NAIA Division I. OCU, which has won eight of the last nine league titles, was picked to finish second in the conference.
The Stars have gone 36-18 against Oklahoma Baptist over the years, defeating OBU 83-73 on March 11, 2008 in the SAC Tournament final in the most previous meeting.
ABOUT THE LADY BISON: Oklahoma Baptist improved to 15-2, 8-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, edging Wayland Baptist (Texas) 61-55 on Saturday in Shawnee, Okla. Taujhnnae Travis led the Lady Bison with 18 points, five assists and three steals.
Ashley Harrell, a 5-9 junior, had 16 points, while Natasha Hogg posted 11. Jennifer Jupin added 10 points, and Vedrana Milkavic led OBU with eight boards. Travis, a 5-7 junior, averages 18.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, while Hogg, a 6-foot junior, adds 15.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 0.88 blocks a game.
The Lady Bison are currently ranked ninth in the NAIA Division I. OBU was picked to win the conference.
ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has gone 103-17 in three seasons with OCU, garnering his 400th career win in his 19th season coaching against Mid-America Christian. Edmission, the 2008 SAC coach of the year, led the Stars to SAC regular-season championships tow of the three season he's been at the OCU helm. Edmisson coached the only player drafted into the WNBA from OCU, Mariam Sy. He won 192 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high school coach in Kansas.
John McCullough is in his ninth season as coach for Oklahoma Baptist. McCullough has led OBU to the NAIA Division I Tournament each year as Lady Bison head coach. In 2006, he led the Lady Bison to the NAIA quarterfinals, matching OBU's best national-tournament finish. McCullough has a 216-153 career coaching record, 180-84 with Oklahoma Baptist.
