SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University overcame a 14-point deficit in a 76-69 win over John Brown (Ark.) at Murray Sells Gymnasium on Saturday.
Laura Duncan, a junior from Edmond, Okla., sparked OCU with 23 points as the Stars had five double-digit scorers. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA Division I women's basketball, moved to 16-1, 8-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Holly Hardin, a junior from Chickasha, Okla., chipped in 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for OCU. Chontaye Walter added 12 points and four assists, while Breezy Martin scored 12 points. Chelsea Ledbetter recorded 10 points and six rebounds.
Duncan hit 6 of 12 shots from the field, including three 3-pointers. Duncan also knocked in 8 of 9 free throws.
John Brown (10-8, 4-6) built a 43-29 lead as Ashley Taylor hit a free throw with 18:49 left in the game. Taylor gave John Brown a 67-59 edge with a 3-point play at the 4:20 mark, but John Brown failed to hit a shot from the floor the rest of the game.
OCU rallied using a 17-2 run to close out the game.
The Stars take on Oklahoma Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena.
