SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 6-2 victory over Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon in the John Brown men's soccer classic at Alumni Field.
Chris Spendlove knocked in two goals, each off assists from John Dill for OCU. The Stars, ranked 15th in the NAIA, improved to 3-1 on the year.
Spendlove, a sophomore from Liverpool, England, knotted up the game at 1-1 with his first goal at the 6:49 mark. The Stars scored five unanswered goals.
Alex Gang followed with a goal using Stephen Sheffield's assist 12 minutes into the contest. Less than a minute later, Sheffield scored off Gang's feed.
Damon Ellis scored off Dill's assist at 47:39 into the match. Luke Garvey put OCU up 5-1 at 63:30, then Spendlove closed out the Stars' scoring at 69:48 into the contest.
Bethel scored once more in the 74th minute. OCU goalkeeper Andy Fitzpatrick notched two saves.
OCU takes on Hillsdale Baptist at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stars Field.
