OKLAHOMA CITY – Jennifer Crawford posted a hat trick and two assists in Oklahoma City University's 11-0 win over Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Tuesday at Stars Field.
Crawford, a senior forward from Owasso, Okla., booted her third goal in unassisted to put the Stars up 7-0 in the 62nd minute.
Crawford also had OCU's first goal off Sarah Leonard's assist five minutes into the match. Malin Andersson knocked in the next two goals, using Crawford's assist at the 7:13 mark and then speeding to another goal unassisted at 12:41 into the contest.
OCU, ranked 21st in NAIA women's soccer, improved to 8-1, 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Wayland Baptist fell to 2-7, 0-3.
The Stars put together 42 shots, 21 on goal. Wayland Baptist mustered three shots as OCU goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs needed only one save in a shutout half of work. Alycia Allenby and Ashton Glover finished in goal for the Stars.
Jessica Caudle put OCU up 4-0 with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Zoe Barratt used Crawford's assist to put the Stars ahead 6-0.
Sara Faily, who also had an assist, scored OCU's eighth goal. Elaine Fontes, Leonard and Erika Garbrecht finished off the Stars' scoring. Fontes provided an assist on Leonard's goal.
OCU faces preseason conference favorite Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m. Thursday at Stars Field.
