BALDWIN CITY, Kan. ? Oklahoma City University soccer coach
Brian Harvey recorded his 200th career women?s victory as the Stars beat Baker (Kan.) 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Liston Stadium.
Harvey, who started the women?s program at OCU in 1994, has a 200-53-14 record in 12 years as a women?s coach. With OCU?s 3-2 men?s win Tuesday, Harvey has a combined 489-182-32 record in 20 years coaching the men and women at OCU.
OCU overcame a 1-0 deficit to beat Baker and earn the Stars? first win of the season.
?That?s quite a surprise,? Harvey said. ?That?s good. It was difficult to be down a goal on the road, but we came through.?
Baker scored in the 15th minute off a penalty kick. OCU?s
Jennifer Crawford, a junior from Owasso, Okla., answered with a penalty-kick goal of her own in the 36th minute.
Zoe Barratt scored unassisted with a minute left in the first half to put OCU up.
?
Zoe Barratt had a very good game,? Harvey said. ?She was the player of the match. She not only scored but also created other chances for her teammates.?
Harvey also pointed out OCU?s defense for its play.
?Our central defenders
Erika Garbrecht and
Lateesha Hunter also had excellent games, as did the whole team,? Harvey said.
OCU plays next against Northeastern State on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Stars Field.
