THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University?s women play host to Sooner Athletic Conference foe John Brown (Ark.).

ABOUT THE STARS: OCU won its 16th game in a row with a 63-53 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday in Alva, Okla., to become 21-2, 12-0 in the SAC. Mikelle Brown, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., hit her career high with 18 points and added 10 rebounds. Mariam Sy, a 6-4 senior from Mali, West Africa, added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sy became Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week for the fifth time this season by averaging 25 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.00 steals last week.
Sy averages 22.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.48 steals a game. Paty Silva adds 9.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.00 steals a game. OCU is ranked third in NAIA Division I and was selected to finish second in the conference preseason coaches poll.
The Stars beat John Brown 69-39 on Jan. 19 in Siloam Springs, Ark.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Kendra McCormick scored a career-high 31 points Thursday against St. Gregory?s in a 67-50 victory in Shawnee, Okla., that moved John Brown to 16-8, 8-4 in the SAC. McCormick, a 6-1 senior, is averaging 15.8 points and 5.3 rebounds a game. John Brown was predicted to finish fourth in the preseason.

ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has 331 victories in 16 seasons as a head coach. Edmisson, a graduate of Bethany (Kan.), came to OCU after a stint as an assistant at Oklahoma State. He won 200 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
Jeff Soderquist is in his eighth season as JBU women?s coach. Soderquist spent six years as men?s assistant before then.

QUOTABLE: ?It was by far the least aesthetically pleasing game for us. We missed at least 15 shots in the first half from point-blank range. Our kids saw Mariam missing shots and got tight and pressed on defense.? ? Edmisson on Thursday?s game
