OKLAHOMA CITY ? Oklahoma City University used a 20-0 run midway through the first half to beat Central Oklahoma 66-42 in an exhibition on Wednesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Mikelle Brown and
Zanita Johnson each had 14 points to lead the Stars.
Romana Vynuchalova had 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
In the first half,
Alexandra Kotta sank a jump shot at the 12:37 mark to start a 20-0 OCU run. Brown had five points in that stretch, that ended with 4:41 left on
Chelsea Ledbetter?s free throws.
Central Oklahoma committed 10 turnovers in that time to fuel OCU?s run. Central Oklahoma had a shot-clock violation and a five-second call for failing to inbound the ball.
The Stars broke an 11-11 tie and created a 31-11 lead.
OCU coach
Rob Edmisson said that the Stars played with uneven intensity. OCU could pay for that effort later in the season.
?I thought our kids played to the scoreboard,? Edmisson said. ?The second half we didn?t play with enthusiasm.
?There are games we play where we have to create our own intensity. When we play Houston Baptist or Union, we may not be able to flip that switch.?
The Stars take on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Saturday in Abe Lemons Arena.
