OCU wins 2-1 over Texas Wesleyan in regional

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University advanced in the NAIA Region VI women's soccer tournament by defeating Texas Wesleyan 2-1 on Friday.
Jessica Caudle, a sophomore midfielder from Oklahoma City, put the game-winning goal into the net 21 seconds into the second half. Sarah Leonard won the ball off the kickoff in the corner of the field. Leonard crossed it to the far post and found Caudle.
"It was a play we've worked on," OCU coach Brian Harvey said. "It was an excellent goal. When it works in a game, it's rewarding for not only the coaching staff, but the players."
Haley McIntosh scored the first goal for the Stars. McIntosh took a pass from Jennifer Crawford and booted the ball 25 yards for the goal at 26:59 into the match.
The Stars put together 14 shots, while Texas Wesleyan had nine shots. Alycia Allenby had three saves.
OCU moved to 14-4-1. The Stars made it this far last year.
"It's the second year in a row we're in the regional semifinals," Harvey said. "Hopefully we can take it one more step and put us one game away from nationals. The girls are pretty pumped about it."
OCU advanced to a 1 p.m. contest at Oklahoma Christian on Monday in the regional semifinals.
