SHAWNEE, Okla. ? Oklahoma City University?s Sarah Leonard scored the game?s only goal in a 1-0 women?s soccer victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday.
Leonard, a freshman from West Yorkshire, England, took a feed from Whitney Ward and scored 19:31 into the match.
OCU got to 13-3-1, 10-2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Oklahoma Baptist dropped to 8-5-2, 8-3-2.
?It was a very important goal,? OCU coach Brian Harvey said. ?It was a good goal. Whitney saw that their defense made an error, and Sarah Leonard chipped the ball over the goalie.?
The Stars are in second in the conference. OCU improved that position with the win.
OCU goes to Oklahoma Christian and plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
