THE MATCHUP: Oklahoma City University?s women play host to Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Alumni Day.
OCU alumni get into the games Saturday for free and get 2-for-1 tickets to the games against Southern Nazarene on Jan. 14. OCU alumni can meet with players following the men?s game in the Leichter Reunion Room at the Freede Center.

ABOUT THE STARS: OCU is 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference following an 83-68 win over Lubbock Christian (Texas) on Thursday at Abe Lemons Arena. Mariam Sy, a 6-foot-4 senior from Mali, West Africa, recorded 21 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. Sy had her career high in assists. Fabiana Araujo scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Sy averages 23.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.77 steals a game. Sy is fourth in NAIA in scoring, 12th in rebounds, 18th in steals per game and 19th in field-goal percentage (55.3). Paty Silva adds 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.46 steals per game. The Stars are ranked eighth in NAIA Division I and were expected to finish second in the SAC in the preseason by coaches.
OCU graduate assistant Stephanie Shaw played for Wayland Baptist last season and scored 1,002 points in her Flying Queens career. Shaw was an all-American as a junior.

ABOUT THE FLYING QUEENS: Wayland Baptist is 5-8 and 0-2 in the SAC after a 60-46 loss to St. Gregory?s on Thursday. Anastasia Okolo, a 5-7 sophomore, had 15 points against St. Gregory?s. Miranda Damiano, a 6-0 freshman, leads the team with 11.6 points per game. In the preseason coaches conference poll, Wayland Baptist was picked to finish seventh in the SAC.

ABOUT THE COACHES: Rob Edmisson has 321 victories in 16 seasons as a head coach. Edmisson, a graduate of Bethany (Kan.), came to OCU after a stint as an assistant at Oklahoma State. He won 200 games at Hutchinson (Kan.) and 110 as a high-school coach in Kansas.
Will Flemons has a 37-32 record in three seasons. Flemons led the Queens to the 2004 NAIA Tournament. Flemons was a two-time all-Southwest Conference player at Texas Tech.
