Rivera scores winning goal for OCU women in 2-1 win over Texas Wesleyan

FORT WORTH, Texas ? Amanda Rivera scored the game-winning goal just after halftime in the Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team?s 2-1 victory over Texas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Rivera, a senior from Westmoore High School in Oklahoma City, knocked the ball into the net on a rebound. Rivera followed the shot by teammate Jessica Caudle, who hit the ball into the goalkeeper. The goalie stopped Caudle?s shot, but the ball landed for Rivera to score with it.
Rivera scored one minute into the second half.
?They played hard and stayed in the game,? OCU assistant Billy Martin said. ?It was a physical game, so our girls worked hard.?
Whitney Ward scored the first goal from 35 yards out 20 minutes into the game. OCU goalie Megan Griffin had six saves. OCU outshot Texas Wesleyan 14-10.
The Stars, 2-0-1, face Southwestern in Weatherford, Okla., at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
