OKLAHOMA CITY ?
Zoe Barratt provided an assist and goal in the Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team?s 3-0 victory over St. Gregory?s on Thursday at Stars Field.
Barratt, a freshman from West Yorkshire, England, started the scoring with a corner kick that
Erika Garbrecht put into the goal for a 1-0 lead 4:52 into the game.
Nearly 20 minutes later, Barratt took a pass from
Amanda Rivera and kicked the ball into St. Gregory?s goalie
Mary Pavliska. Pavliska stopped one Barratt shot, but failed to keep the ball. The ball rebounded, and Barratt poked the ball into the net.
?We?ve been practicing those in training,? Barratt said of the rebound. ?I was lucky to be there. It was a good ball, and I finished it off.?
OCU, ranked 14th in NAIA, improved to 9-0-1 and 1-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
?She?s been a revelation,? OCU coach
Brian Harvey said of Barratt. ?It?s not just one player, though. It?s 21 girls doing a good job.?
At the 25:02 mark,
Erin Heath finished the scoring with a rainbow shot over the goalkeeper. Neither team scored in the second half.
The Stars face Oklahoma Christian next on the road at 6 p.m. Monday.
