AUSTIN, Texas -- Erika Garbrecht scored as the Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team won 1-0 over Austin College (Texas) with another late goal on Saturday afternoon.
Garbrecht, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., put the goal through the net from 35 yards away on a free kick. Garbrecht kicked the ball off an Austin defender?s head past the goalie and into the corner of the net.
The Stars have allowed only two goals this season in going 5-0-1. OCU has won three games 1-0. ?We?re a hard team to score on right now,? OCU assistant coach Billy Martin said. ?Another good effort defensively. The girls are defending enough to win it. We?re getting the late goal. We?re wearing teams down because of our good ball possession.?
OCU put 23 shots on goal, while Austin had eight shots on goal. OCU goalkeeper Megan Griffin chipped in two saves.
The Stars, ranked 17th in NAIA, face Southern Nazarene at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Bethany.
