OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma City University women?s soccer game ended its four-game winning streak against Oklahoma Christian in the Sooner Athletic Conference championship game, this afternoon. The Eagles claimed the tournament title with a 1-0 victory over the Stars.
OCU was 5-0-1 in its previous six contests and experienced its first loss since Oct. 11. In this span, the Stars outscored their opponents, 10-3, and recorded four shutouts.
After a 0-0 halftime score, the Eagles struck early in the final period when
Rachel Wrinkle nailed a free kick near the 47th minute of the game. OC goalkeeper
Chelsee Truesdell claimed the shutout with six saves.
The Stars out shot the Eagles in the first half, 7-4, claiming four shot on goals. OC countered in the final period with a 7-3 shot advantage, led by
Kristin Brown who recorded seven shots in the game.
Both of these teams will meet again next week in the NAIA Region VI Tournament, on Monday, Nov. 8, in Alva, Okla. The Stars and the Eagles face off at 4 p.m., with Northwestern Oklahoma State playing Northwood (Texas) at 6 p.m.
The regional championship will be on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
