OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team collected its second consecutive win this afternoon, defeating Texas Wesleyan, 2-1.
Whitney Ward, once again, scored the winning goal, as the sophomore did against Southern Nazarene last Tuesday.
The Rams (6-5-1) got on the board first, after
Melody Overland scored near the 11th minute, taking an assist from
Sarah Wilson and making a dart to the net for the initial goal.
OCU (7-2-3) responded near the 16th minute when
Amanda Jones gathered the ball near midfield and drove all the way to the goal for the tying score. The sophomore has recorded 11 goals to lead the Stars this season.
The second half went scoreless until late in the game, when OCU attacked the Rams goal, and after a flurry of shot attempts, Ward connected of a deflection and booted the winning goal near the 78th minute.
The Stars go on the road for a matchup at William Jewell, on Monday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.
