OKLAHOMA CITY ? The Oklahoma City University women?s soccer team ended the regular season with a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian, this afternoon.
Holly DeRousse scored an early first half goal for the lone score and give the Stars their 10th victory of the season.
OCU (10-3-4) held the Eagles to five shots and only one shot in the first half. Stars goalkeeper
Megan Griffin collected her sixth shutout on the season.
Near the 14th minute of the game, DeRousse stole the ball from an OC defender and broke to the goal for a one-on-one face-off against Eagle goalkeeper
Chelsee Trusedell. DeRousse nailed a shot beyond Trusedell?s reach as the ball landed in the left corner of the net.
The Stars recorded nine shots in the game.
Amanda Jones led OCU with six shots.
The Sooner Athletic Conference tournament is next up for the Stars. First round games begin on Friday, Oct. 29, and OCU is projected to host a first round game, but the opponent is still to be determined. Game time for Friday?s game is at 2 p.m.
