OCU Women Win, Men Lose in Soccer Action at OBU

SHAWNEE, Okla. -- The Oklahoma City University men's and women's soccer teams took on Oklahoma Baptist, this afternoon, as the Stars claimed a 3-2 victory in the women's game, but lost to the Bison in men's action, 3-1.

Jared Pennington put the Stars ahead 1-0 in the 26th minute with an assist from Owen Lyon, but the Bison knotted the game when Amuary Nunes' penalty kick found the lower left corner of the net in the 34th minute.

Nunes scored again with 64 seconds left on the first half clock with an assist from Marcos Silva to take a 2-1 lead.

The 2-1 score lasted until the 85th minute when Elton Silva scored his third goal of the season for the final margin.

With regulation time winding down and two players going for a loose ball in the OBU box, a Lady Bison was called for a foul as the players' feet tangled and both spilled to the ground.
Karen Moore scored the penalty kick with 1:04 left in the game.

OCU had taken a 1-0 lead in the first half with Emily DeRousse scoring with an assist from Emily Furr. That score, which came in the 33rd minute, lasted until the 71st minute.

At that point, Daniela Magallon scored on a direct kick to tie the game at 1-1.

Magallon scored again in the 80th minute with an assist from Katinha Arruda for a 2-1 OBU lead.

The Stars fought back as Amanda Rivera scored with an assist from Whitney Ward to tie the game 2-2, just 80 seconds later with eight minutes left in the game.

OCU will take on USAO in both men?s and women?s action on Saturday, Oct. 23. The women?s game begins at 1 p.m., and the men?s game follows at 3 p.m.
