Dr. Shelley Faubion became an all-American while playing softball for Oklahoma City University. Faubion was an National Softball Coaches Association all-American and NAIA honorable-mention all-American as a senior.
While playing for OCU, she was also four-time all-District 9, two-time NAIA academic all-American and was team offensive most valuable player twice. She was MVP of the Maureen Stafford Invitational as a sophomore and earned OCU’s Mental Toughness, Extra Effort award as a freshman.
A Cushing, Okla., native, Faubion was an all-state softball player at Oologah, Okla.
“What impressed me the most about Shelley was how she was a giving person,” OCU softball coach Phil McSpadden said. “That went into her choice of profession because she uses her ability to help people.
“She had a lot of overall skill. She was a very intelligent student of the game, and as a result, she got the most out of her ability. She spent her time perfecting the things she did well.”
Faubion practiced medicine in Chickasha, Okla. She was medical director for the Kickapoo Tribal Health Care Center in McLoud, Okla., and had her first practice in Stigler, Okla. She interned at Hillcrest Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She graduated from OCU in 1990 and the Oklahoma State University college of osteopathic medicine in 1994.
