Bud Koper set the single-game school scoring record with 50 points against North Texas State in 1963-64.
Koper scored 50 in a 125-88 victory over North Texas State. He did not have the benefit of a 3-point line.

“I remember Koper shooting the ball from way out,” former OCU athletic director and player Arnold Short said. “He had range almost to the half line.”

Koper became one of OCU’s eight NCAA all-Americans. Koper earned first-team all-American from Look Magazine and the Helms Foundation. He also earned an invitation to U.S. Olympic tryouts.

“We don’t have any picks or plays for Koper,” OCU coach Abe Lemons said. “We don’t set him up. The only instruction Bud has is, ‘When we throw you the ball, do what you want with it.’ ”

Koper ended his career at OCU second to Hub Reed in scoring.
