Marty McCauley

Marty McCauley has continued the championship tradition of the powerhouse Oklahoma City University women’s golf program.
In 10 years as Oklahoma City head coach, McCauley has guided the Stars to the 2013, 2014 and 2017 NAIA championships and seven Sooner Athletic Conference championships. The Stars own five top-five finishes and eight top-10 showings in the national tournament with McCauley’s guidance. OCU has 28 tournament wins in 104 events while annually competing against multiple NCAA Division I teams on the NAIA’s most challenging schedule under McCauley, the winningest women’s golf coach OCU has had.
McCauley has garnered NAIA coach of the year three times and SAC coach of the year six times. He has guided 35 all-Americans, three four-time all-Americans, the 2013 NAIA individual champion, the 2013 and 2014 NAIA individual runner-up, 25 all-conference performers, four SAC individual champions, four league player of the year award winners and four SAC freshmen of the year.
Off the course, the Stars have earned academic accolades with 10 NAIA scholar team awards, 18 NAIA scholar-athlete honorees and seven CoSIDA academic all-Americans. Caroline Goodin twice and Elia Folch gained the Jim Wade Award as OCU’s female student-athlete of the year, while the squad took the OCU athletic department team of character honor in 2013-14. Lauren Behnken became the inaugural Women’s Golf Coaches Association NAIA Kim Moore Spirit award winner in 2019-20. The team contributes to the community through regularly donating time to the First Tee program.
In 2019-20, the Stars earned two victories and four top-five finishes in seven starts. OCU remained among the top eight spots in the NAIA rankings throughout the season.
In 2018-19, Oklahoma City finished fourth in the NAIA Championships and set a tournament record with a first-round 287. OCU crushed its tournament record for margin of victory by winning the Southwestern Christian Invitational by 46 strokes Sept. 17-18, 2018 at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
On May 26, 2017, OCU won its NAIA-best eighth national title by eight strokes completing a wire-to-wire victory at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. An NAIA-record six Stars became all-Americans in 2016-17.
McCauley had spent the previous five years as men’s golf assistant coach to Greg Sands at Texas Tech. With Texas Tech, McCauley helped guide the program to heights never before achieved from 2005-11. McCauley mentored six all-Americans, including three-time all-American Oscar Floren, who became the first Red Raider named first-team PING all-American.
The Red Raiders enjoyed some of the best seasons in school history, including four trips to the NCAA Championships and five consecutive NCAA regional appearances. Texas Tech completed its finest season in 50 years in 2009-10, falling to Florida State 4-1 in match play of the NCAA Championships. Tech posted its first top-eight NCAA finish since 1959.
McCauley previously served as assistant coach to Kyle Blaser on OCU’s ultra successful men's golf program for two seasons. McCauley aided the Stars to the 2003 and 2004 NAIA national championships as well as the 2003 and 2004 Sooner Athletic Conference titles. During those two years, OCU produced seven all-Americans as well as two NAIA scholar-athlete award winners.
