Marty McCauley

Marty McCauley has continued the championship tradition of the powerhouse Oklahoma City University women’s golf program.
In seven years as OCU head coach, McCauley has guided the Stars to the 2013, 2014 and 2017 NAIA championships and six Sooner Athletic Conference championships. The Stars have finished in the top 10 in the national tournament each year and no lower than eighth place nationally with McCauley’s guidance. OCU has 21 tournament wins in 75 events while annually competing against multiple NCAA Division I teams on the NAIA’s most challenging schedule under McCauley.
McCauley has garnered NAIA coach of the year three times and SAC coach of the year four times. He has guided 28 all-Americans, two four-time all-Americans, the 2013 NAIA individual champion, the 2013 and 2014 NAIA individual runner-up, 19 all-conference performers, three SAC individual champions, two league player of the year award winners and three SAC freshmen of the year.
Off the course, the Stars have earned academic accolades with seven NAIA scholar team awards, 10 NAIA scholar-athlete honorees and five CoSIDA academic all-Americans. Caroline Goodin twice and Elia Folch gained the Jim Wade Award as OCU’s female student-athlete of the year, while the squad took the OCU athletic department team of character honor in 2013-14. The team contributes to the community through regularly donating time to the First Tee program.
In 2016-17, Oklahoma City won its NAIA-best eighth national title and sixth consecutive conference crown among five tournament victories. An NAIA-record six Stars became all-Americans.
McCauley had spent the previous five years as men’s golf assistant coach to Greg Sands at Texas Tech. With Texas Tech, McCauley helped guide the program to heights never before achieved from 2005-11. McCauley mentored six all-Americans, including three-time all-American Oscar Floren, who became the first Red Raider named first-team PING all-American.
The Red Raiders enjoyed some of the best seasons in school history, including four trips to the NCAA Championships and five consecutive NCAA regional appearances. Texas Tech completed its finest season in 50 years in 2009-10, falling to Florida State 4-1 in match play of the NCAA Championships. Tech posted its first top-eight NCAA finish since 1959.
McCauley previously served as assistant coach to Kyle Blaser on OCU’s ultra successful men's golf program for two seasons. McCauley aided the Stars to the 2003 and 2004 NAIA national championships as well as the 2003 and 2004 Sooner Athletic Conference titles. During those two years, OCU produced seven all-Americans as well as two NAIA scholar-athlete award winners.
Prior to his previous coaching stint at OCU, the Cushing, Okla., native played collegiate golf at Wichita State for coach Grier Jones from 1999-2002. McCauley helped the Shockers capture a pair of Missouri Valley Conference Championships prior to his graduation. Additionally, he received Missouri Valley academic all-conference honors during his career.
As a prep player at Cushing High School, McCauley finished his career with back-to-back Class 3A state individual championships in 1997 and 1998. McCauley was an all-state selection as a senior as well as being a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award rewarded to the top senior athlete in the state.
McCauley and his wife Sara were married in August 2008.
