Amy Clendenin was recognized this past weekend for being a part of Oklahoma City University’s first senior class for volleyball since the program started again.

Clendenin, a senior from Longview, Texas, is this week’s U.S. Army Super Star of the Week after posting 27 kills combined in OCU’s matches against Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Wayland Baptist (Texas).

Clendenin and Erin Hirt attend North Central (Texas) before coming to play at OCU, developing their chemistry that Hirt and Clendenin have is seen on and off the court.

“Erin and I are lucky to have been together for all four years,” said Clendenin. “We have connected on and off the court, and it’s probably one of the biggest bonds I’ve every really had not only with a teammate, but just with a friend in generally.”

Clendenin chose OCU late over Texas Woman’s because of her relationship with Hirt as well as knowing OCU coach Jen Salmans from Angelo State (Texas).

“Erin and I came into this program depended on each other and now that we have just grown together there’s not much on the court that I have to say for her to know what I’m thinking and vice versa,” said Clendenin. “It’s just been wonderful.”
