Wherever Corey Bingham goes, his daughter is not far from his mind.
Bingham, a junior guard from Lynn, Mass., is a proud father of his daughter Engelyz, who lives in Massachusetts with his family.
Bingham is this week’s Super Star of the Week after averaging 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in wins over St. Gregory’s and third-ranked Oklahoma Baptist.
“My daughter means everything to me,” Bingham said. “Everything I do, waking up, going to class, going to practice, I always keep her in my head and on my heart. Without her I don’t know what I do.”
Bingham is in his first season with the OCU basketball team. He said the biggest transition of living in Oklahoma compared to the East Coast has been the time difference.
“It’s a little bit slower out here than it is in Massachusetts,” he said. “For the most part I am enjoying it here though. It’s a great place to be.”
Bingham had 19 points, including the game-winning free throws in the upset win against previously unbeaten OBU. He is averaging 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in his first season with the Stars.
“Every basketball player dreams of that moment of knocking down the free throws to win the game,” Bingham said. “Basically, I just did the same thing I do every time I go to the line.”
