A big reason for the success of the Oklahoma City University women’s soccer team has been the play of goalkeeper Brittany Tibbs.

Tibbs, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., is this week’s Super Star of the Week after helping OCU to shutouts against Wayland Baptist (Texas) and St. Gregory’s. Tibbs was also honored as Sooner Athletic Conference defensive player of the week for her performance.

“It is a lot of pressure, but that is what motivates me to play,” Tibbs said about her position. “I enjoy the pressure.”

Tibbs is more than just an athlete though. She carries a 3.94 GPA in biomedical sciences and kinesiology and said balancing both soccer and academics can be difficult at times.

“It gets rough during the season,” she said. “You just have to manage your time really well and do your homework before you go to sleep.”

Tibbs said she hopes to get into physical therapy school after she is finished at OCU.

The Stars have been on a roll of late with three straight victories and one of the keys has been solid defense.
Tibbs posted five consecutive shutouts with the whitewash of St. Gregory's.

“The defense is really starting to come together,” Tibbs said. “We’re really young, so we’re finally learning how each other plays and working together better.”
