While in high school, Brittany Tibbs was used to facing up to 30 shots a game. Now that she is a freshman in college, Tibbs may face about eight a game thanks to a defense that helps to prevent many shots against the Oklahoma City University women's soccer team.

“Playing in college has more competition, everyone is competing for the same spots,” said Tibbs.

This past week, Tibbs allowed one goal in three matches this week with 14 saves. Tibbs, a freshman goalkeeper from Kansas City, Mo., is this week's U.S. Army Super Star of the Week.

“My defense played outstanding,” said Tibbs. "The whole team was incredible in our past games."

OCU coach Brian Harvey signed Tibbs even though she had an injury-plagued senior year. The move has paid off as Tibbs has taken over in goal for the Stars and keyed a 14-2 start and a top-20 ranking nationally.

Tibbs was named NAIA defensive player of the week for Sept. 23-30.

“Brittany is a good athlete and very dedicated to what she does," Harvey said. "She is very mature for being a freshman and handles pressure well. She is a pleasure to be around and coach. She is a great asset to our team.”

Besides playing soccer, Tibbs has a passion for baking. She would help her mom with dinner when at home, but her real love is making desserts.

“My chocolate cake with white chocolate icing and raspberry sauce on top is my best dessert,” said Tibbs. “The brownies you can make in the microwave are very good.”

The Food Network is her favorite channel. Tibbs said that Rachael Ray is her favorite chef to watch.

“All her cooking wear is orange, which is my favorite color, I already own the knife set. She is just entertaining to watch,” said Tibbs.

OCU fans could say the same about the Stars with Tibbs' help.
