Sarah Leonard has a unique way of preparing for a soccer match.

Leonard, a senior from West Yorkshire, England, admits that she listens to classical music to help get her ready for a match.

“Everyone thinks I am listening to rap music or R&B during the warm-ups, but I am listening to classical music,” she said.

Leonard is this week’s Super Star of the week after she scored two goals, including the game winner against Southwestern Oklahoma State last Friday. Leonard leads the Stars with six goals on the season in only four matches.

It is just one of many big goals Leonard has scored in her career at OCU. She now has 36 career goals.

“It was pretty daunting,” said Leonard about her game-winning goal. “We were kind of expecting to be going a while, but the chance just came and I was lucky enough to put it away. It was just a good feeling.”

Leonard credits her success this year to training and help from the coaching staff.

“We’ve done a lot of one-on-one training and one-on-one with the defense and with the goalkeeper,” said Leonard. “Our assistant Billy [Martin] has worked a lot with me. It has just been putting that practice into the game situations and luckily it has paid off.”

She has also enjoyed her time playing for NAIA and OCU Hall of Fame coach Brian Harvey.

“It’s pretty special when you have someone like that with that much experience on your team,” said Leonard about coach Harvey. “You feel like you can win anything.”
