Viola Beybeyah will be the first member of her family to graduate from college. Beybeyah grew up in a single parent home with her mother.

“College has been good, a real blessing,” said Beybeyah. "I was the only one who played sports and got a full ride to college, so my mom doesn’t have to pay."

Not only does Beybeyah play, but she excels on the court as well. She averaged 17.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last week. She also had 18 points and eight rebounds vs. Southern Nazarene, 14 in the first half.

Beybeyah, a senior from Oklahoma City, is this week’s Super Star of the week.

“My hard work is paying off,” said Beybeyah.

Beybeyah feels that the team is stronger than it’s ever been since losing to Oklahoma Baptist on Jan. 12.

“Since the eye-opening loss, our team chemistry has grown,” said Beybeyah. "We know each other's tendencies and what our teammates can and can’t do. We have not only just grown on the court, but off the court as well. Our team is a big threat. If I am not doing well, I know someone else will step up. I feel they look up to me and that gives me confidence.”

After graduation, Beybeyah would like to try to continue playing basketball. After that she wants to become a personal trainer or work in special education.

More on Viola:

Song I would use in an American Idol tryout: "Can't tell me nothing" by Kanye West

The super power I would like to have: Read people's minds

The best time I ever had was: My aunt's birthday when the whole family got together and had a great time

My pregame ritual: Take a shower and listen to music, which is why I warm up an hour before being at the gym

Best advice I have ever gotten: To get something you've never had, you're going to have to do something you've never done
