Kameron Gray had only one semester left of eligibility, so last semester the Oklahoma City University men’s basketball team was short their returning most valuable player of the NAIA Tournament.
Gray spent the past semester cheering on his team from the bench.
“It feels great to be back, to do whatever I can from scoring, playing defense or providing assists to help my team,” said Gray.
Gray averaged 25 points, four rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.50 steals this past week. He shot 50 percent from the field and 96.3 percent from the free-throw line. He also was a key reason the Stars beat John Brown (Ark.), going 16 of 16 from the free-throw line.
Gray is this week’s Super Star of the Week.
Gray is not the only OCU guard who can handle the ball with the returning Ronald Taylor and new addition Richard Jackson.
“It is nice not having the pressure of bringing the ball up the court, the whole team has faith in them,” said Gray.
Gray’s uncle, retired Major League Baseball player Willie McGee, has had great advice for Gray over the years.
“He gives me life tips, how to keep your body healthy and to watch out for certain people that will bring you down,” said Gray.
