OCU's Brown selected as all-American

Chris Brown led the Stars with 17.6 points per game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chris Brown of Oklahoma City University was named an honorable-mention NAIA Division I men's basketball all-American.

Brown, a senior from Spencer, Okla., averaged 17.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.11 steals per game for the Stars.

Brown led OCU in scoring (474 points), field goals (171) and 3-point field-goal percentage (42 percent). He finished fifth in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 31st nationally in scoring average.

Brown had already become a first-team all-SAC pick.

“I was proud of his leadership throughout the year,” OCU coach Kevin Morrissey said. “He is really good offensively with his back to the basket. He has an excellent mid-range offensive game. He matured a lot and got ready to produce and have a good senior year.”

Brown totaled 20 points in a game 11 times this season, reaching his career high of 29 points against St. Gregory's on Dec. 5 and vs. USAO on Feb. 22. He tied the program's single-game record of eight steals against St. Gregory's on Dec. 5. Mark Chambers also had eight against Oklahoma Baptist on Feb. 14, 1991, and Raymond Roberts had eight thefts vs. Bartlesville Wesleyan on Nov. 4, 1996.
