OCU signs Garcia, Link

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University has signed Sydney Garcia of Moore, Okla. and Kelsey Link of Albuquerque, N.M. to its softball program.
Garcia and Link are the first softball recruits to sign with OCU for the 2011 season.

Garcia batted .437 at Moore (Okla.) as a senior, earning 2009 all-state honors. Garcia was also a two-time member of the Oklahoman big all-city team. Garcia batted .479 as a junior, .301 during her sophomore season and .350 as a freshman.

Link, originally from Palatine, Ill., batted .400 and had an on-base percentage of .552 as a junior for Albuquerque Sandia (N.M.). Link also went 7-2 in the circle with a 0.73 earned run average and 93 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched. She earned first-team all-district honors and helped her team to the district championship. Link hit .388 as a sophomore and .529 with 23 RBIs as a freshman.

Oklahoma City University opens the 2010 season on the road with a doubleheader at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
