OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University garnered awards for its athletic publications for 2008-09, including the best wrestling media guide cover in Division C as awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America recognized OCU's basketball media guide with eighth place in the combined basketball brochure publications contest and the Stars' soccer media guide with eighth in the multisport brochure contest.
OCU's media guides were produced by director of art and web services Kevin Miller and media relations specialist Rod Jones in the OCU communications department and director of athletic communications Rich Tortorelli and assistant sports information director Meghan McMahon in the athletics department.
The soccer media guide finished eighth among 43 entries in the multisport brochure category, while the basketball guide was eighth among 15 entrants.
CoSIDA Division C encompasses member schools in NAIA, NCAA Division III, NCCAA and NJCAA.
In 2007-08, CoSIDA awarded OCU the top cover among Division C multisport media guides for the cover to its baseball-softball media guide. The 2007-08 award was the first such award garnered by OCU.
“These awards are a testament to the hard work of Rich Tortorelli and our talented university communications staff,” OCU athletic director Jim Abbott said. “They approach each project very professionally and take a lot of pride in their work and the results speak for themselves.”
