NORMAN, Okla. – Anthony Michael of Oklahoma City University has been named to the all-Nicklaus team, which recognizes the top men’s collegiate golfers from the NAIA and NCAA Division I, II and III.
Michael, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, was part of the 20 honorees as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The all-Nicklaus team was created last year and named for Jack Nicklaus.
A four-time NAIA all-American, Michael recorded 71.65 shots per round as a senior this season. Michael finished tied for third to garner all-tournament in the NAIA Championships for the fourth time in his OCU career. He won the Sam Houston State Invitational, the U.C. Ferguson Classic and the California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate.
Michael is a three-time first-team NAIA PING all-American as awarded by the GCAA. Michael made second-team PING all-American as a freshman. In his career, Michael won five tournaments to rank third all-time at OCU in career wins. He posted a career stroke average of 71.31.
Michael, Sam Cyr of Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) and Cory Renfrew of British Columbia were the only NAIA golfers on the all-Nicklaus team.
