OKLAHOMA CITY – Sarah Leonard of Oklahoma City University has been named an NAIA women's soccer honorable-mention all-American, announced by the NAIA on Friday.
Leonard, a senior from West Yorkshire, England, became a two-time all-American after being named honorable mention as a sophomore.
“Sarah had just a magnificent season for us,” OCU head coach Brian Harvey said. “She leaves a big hole in our offense, and it is going to be very difficult to replace her.”
Leonard had 22 goals and six assists for a team-high 50 points in 2009. She earned Sooner Athletic Conference offensive player of the year and first-team all-conference honors. Leonard finished ranked third in school history with 53 career goals. She had six games where she scored two or more goals on the season, including five hat tricks. Leonard scored three goals, including the winning goal in a 4-3 overtime victory over USAO on Nov. 7 in the first round of the SAC Tournament. Leonard had six winning goals on the year.
OCU finished 11-7-1 on the season, falling one game short of the NAIA Championships.
