OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University’s Sarah Burnett, Alex Miley and Brittany Tibbs each were named NAIA women’s soccer scholar-athletes, announced by the NAIA recently.

Award winners must hold a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point-average and be a junior or senior in academic standing.

“I am always proud of what our girls and boys do in the classroom,” OCU coach Brian Harvey said. “I think they typify what a student-athlete is all about in the way they represent OCU.”

Burnett, a junior from Norman, Okla., has a 4.02 GPA while majoring in biology. She had five goals and three assists for the Stars in 2009.

Miley, a junior from Edmond, Okla., has a 3.89 GPA majoring in biology. She had one goal and two assists on the season.

Tibbs, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., has a 3.94 GPA while pursuing degrees in biomedical sciences and kinesiology. Tibbs recorded 68 saves and had a 1.49 goals-against average. She was named second-team all-Sooner Athletic Conference.

All three also were named CoSIDA ESPN the Magazine academic all-district.
